Application guidance

The finished part sets the specification.

A grade name alone is not enough. We use the customer’s converting route and failure risks to decide what must be verified.

01 / Graphic overlays

Appliance panels & nameplates

Candidate directions include hard-coated, brushed, matte and printable PET. We confirm print side, surface texture, pencil-hardness method, forming depth and chemical resistance.

  • Typical thickness discussion: 0.125 / 0.188 / 0.250 mm
  • Important checks: reverse printing, embossing, window clarity and ink adhesion
  • Stock direction: Yihua Toray PY2M 0.188 mm and decorative PET candidates

02 / Membrane switches

Printed circuits & tactile interfaces

The layer function matters: graphic overlay, printed circuit carrier, spacer or protective layer. Each role has different surface and dimensional requirements.

  • Confirm treatment side and conductive ink compatibility
  • Review flex life, embossing and dimensional stability
  • Do not assume a hard-coat is suitable for forming without trial data

03 / IMD & texture transfer

Decorative forming and phone components

Heat, pressure, elongation and ink systems determine whether a PET candidate is workable. Low-distortion stock records are a starting point—not a guaranteed IMD specification.

  • Provide forming temperature, depth and draw ratio
  • Confirm print stack, transfer route and release behaviour
  • Run an application sample before commercial quotation

04 / Process protection

PE surface protective film

A thickness match does not define adhesion performance. We need the protected substrate, peel force method, dwell time, temperature and residue acceptance.

  • Stock thickness directions: 0.030 and 0.045 mm
  • Confirm adhesive type, coating side and ageing conditions
  • Sample on the customer’s real surface before scale-up

05 / Diagnostic test process

Backing, carrier or process film

First identify the exact role of PET in the diagnostic device. We do not describe stock as medical grade, biocompatible or regulatory-approved without supplier documentation.

  • Define contact with sample, reagents and adhesive layers
  • Confirm cleanliness, surface energy and dimensional tolerance
  • Regulatory claims require traceable supporting documents
